Something wrong? Write to me.
One person builds Shanhai and one person answers this address. Expect a reply within a couple of days — English or 中文 both fine. Nothing you send is added to any list.
Before you write
These come up most. If your question is here, the answer is quicker than an email; if it is not, the address above is genuinely the right place.
My creature has not appeared yet.
That is expected. The first stretch is deliberately the void alone; a shape starts gathering around the first week and the species is chosen once there are about two weeks of real entries behind it. There is nothing to unlock and nothing to buy to speed it up.
How do I cancel a subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings › your name at the top › Subscriptions › Shanhai › Cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves the current period running. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
I paid, and Pro is not showing.
Open the price page in the app and tap Restore — purchases follow your Apple ID, so this is all it takes on a new phone or after a reinstall. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it still does not come back, email me with the date of purchase and I will help.
How do I delete what I wrote?
Settings › Privacy › Let the void forget. Choose a date range and it is erased for good — your creature fades to match. Deleting the app erases everything at once. Nothing is held on a server, so there is nothing left over anywhere.
Voice input is not working.
It needs microphone and speech-recognition permission (Settings › Shanhai on your phone), and the on-device transcription model for your language must be available — iOS downloads those the first time a language is used. Transcription is forced to on-device mode, so nothing is sent to Apple to be transcribed.
Can I get it on Android or iPad?
iPhone first. There is no Android version and no date for one. Being honest about that is more useful than a maybe.
Something is broken, or a word is wrong in my language.
Please write. Translation fixes and small bugs are the easiest kind of email to act on — a screenshot and your iOS version is plenty.
Useful things to include
- What you were doing when it went wrong, and what happened instead.
- Your iPhone model and iOS version.
- A screenshot — never your entry text, unless you want to share it.
